The House of Max Mara established by Achille Maramotti in 1951, operates by the highly successful formula of designer “moonlighting”, employing well-known fashion designers to create their collections. Over the years the company employed future big names such as Karl Lagerfeld, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Dolce & Gabbana and Narciso Rodriguez. But the design philosophy remains constant – understated, easy to wear clothes in luxury fabrics. This goregous 'little black dress' is a beautiful example of this philosophy.

The "Mara" came from his surname, while "Max" referred to Count Max, a local character who was seldom sober but always stylish.

Easy to wear and guaranteed to make you look hella sexy at your next soiree! Count Max would approve!

Dolce & Gabbana cut this Italian made electrified purple satin dress to maximum effect!

They made their name together in 1985, when the organisers of the Milano Collezioni invited them to take part in a fashion show to launch "New Talents". The following year, Dolce & Gabbana presented their first independent women's ready-to-wear show. Fundamentally they are known for making women look, quite simply, devastatingly sexy. "They (breasts) find their way out of any black dress, any buttoned-up blouse," says Isabella Rossellini. "The first piece of theirs I wore was a white shirt, very chaste, but cut to make my breasts look as if they were bursting out of it."
What else can you expect, when their inspirational figures are Sophia Lorena and Anna Magnani!

You'll make them all turn their heads when you walk into the room... and when you walk out!!

Some notable reciepiants: football legend Jim Brown was awarded it in 1964; golfer and all round sauve guy, Lee Trevino wore it in 71; and the truly infamous O.J.
